Sacrament Preparation Program

This structure for parish sacrament preparation is designed to meet the needs of those children coming to the parish from various school programs (catholic, private and public) to receive sacraments.  A series of programs appropriate to each of the sacraments is in place for all candidates preparing for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.  These programs enable the parish to work with both students and families as they journey towards the sacraments.  In order to participate in this program it is expected that:

  • the family is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish.
  • the child has been participating in Sunday Mass on a regular basis.
  • the child is participating in ongoing catechesis (public, private or catholic school) and will continue to do so. Note: No less than 2 years of religion study prior to receiving the Sacrament(s) is required by Diocesan Office.

All students receiving the sacraments are to attend this preparation program in order to receive Sacraments with the class. Special circumstances will be addresses on an individual basis.

First Eucharist and Reconciliation is celebrated each year.  Children receive Reconciliation and First Eucharist traditionally during the second grade.

Confirmation is celebrated annually in the fall once the candidate has completed thier 2nd year of Sacrament Preparation.
Candidates receive Confirmation typically in the Spring of their 8th grade year.
